Baa Baa Chew
Baa Baa Chew
He kai. He kōrero. He whanaungatanga.
Food. Conversation. Connection.
Baa Baa Chew is a grassroots community BBQ where we come together to share kai, kōrero, and time with one another. It’s about pulling up a seat at a welcoming table — building connection, care, and belonging through manaakitanga and shared food.
If you’re able, please bring a can as koha. Any cash koha will go towards a freezer to support future community events, and donated canned or long-life kai will be added to the Kai Basket to support whānau in need.
Everyone is welcome — come as you are, bring a friend, and share in the joy of community

Miramar, Wellington
9am-12pm
Day 1: Monday, 29th September 2025
Stamp & Squish: Symmetrical Insect Painting
No insects will be harmed in this stamping and squishing workshop! We celebrate
spring and nature by welcoming back beautiful flowers, plants and two of the
most colourful flying insects - the majestic monarch butterfly and the
fascinating dragonfly. We will get creative with stamps, squish painting and
symmetry while learning about their life cycle, anatomy, behaviour and their
significant contribution to the eco-system.
Day 2: Tuesday, 30th September 2025
Gum & Gelli: The Humble Honey Bee
Warning: this can get messy! We will explore creating the humble honey bee
with gel and gum. The Gelli Arts gel printing plates will make their return to
the workshop along with a new art partner - the drawing gum marker. We will
continue our exploration of printmaking, paint resist technique and learn
about geometric shapes, texture, all about these clever creatures, their
crucial role in ensuring our food security and how we can attract them into
our garden this season. A perfect mix of science, art and a little bee magic.
